it's no secret that i love pretty much everything priscilla oliveras writes. mainly because i love, love, love how fully her heroines embrace their puerto rican culture. the sense of familia is something i adore. and the why it matters is something that's part of my dna, and i love reading about characters who get that.
in resort to love sofia vargas has a plan, she just doesn't expect to confront her past when trying to make her future dreams come true. nate hamilton has always been it for her. but his own family ties had a hold on him. and sofia would never ask him to cast those aside for her, even if she just wanted to be his first choice. and when she realized this, she cut him out of her life.
but nate is in town, and could possibly be the obstacle that destroys her plans for the future. in nate's defense, he's got his reasons for not making the leap for sofia when he had the chance before. she'd always gone about protecting her heart in a way that made him think she didn't feel their connection as deeply as he did. but he knows he didn't fight hard enough for them. neither of them took risks.
now that he has a chance, nate isn't going to let go so easily. even though he's going to have to work hard for sofia to believe in the fact that he is truly putting her first. honestly, he does a pretty amazing job. as these two realize that by denying the true depth of their feelings for each other, they'd been failing to truly give their relationship a chance, it's clear that they need to make the jump and admit how they feel for each other.
and it's all very swoonworthy and takes place pretty close to paradise, not puerto rico, but close enough.

I sincerely appreciate you sharing your thoughts on Resort to Love, Eva! It means a lot to hear that you're able to connect with my Latina heroines as much as I do!
ReplyDeleteWriting Nate & Sofía's love story was such a treat. I relished getting inside Nate's head as he struggled with how to convince Sofía that she could trust him again. As for Sof, I admire her strength and determination...traits it's not always easy to find within myself.
Muchísimas gracias for the honest review, and here's to us having a chance to share an authentic Puerto Rican meal some time down the road!
¡Boricua, pa' que tu lo sepas! ;-)
