seriously romantic: american sweethearts by adriana herrera

the dreamers series comes to a close with american sweethearts , and it's long-time, on-and-off again lovers, priscilla and juan pablo getting all the attention now. so you all know how i feel about second-chance romances, but it's not that i hate them all. it's just that there are so many done wrong. adriana herrera gets it right. yeah, some of their past is there, but it never overwhelms what happens in the here and now, and it's not that the characters make the same mistakes with a miraculously different outcome. it's that they put the work in to make it work. the last time they broke up, juanpa realized he needed to make some changes. his very real concerns and not unreasonable anxieties were expressing themselves as anger and judgment and kept pushing away the one person in his life that he wants to keep close. but for her part priscilla is holding on to her pride a bit too hard, life changes and sometimes the things we thought we wanted most aren't a

seriously romantic: crazy little thing called love by mariah ankenman

full disclosure: i'm mariah's literary agent. i'm sure biases abound. crazy little thing called love  is the manuscript i signed mariah on as a client for. there was just something about the way del and cassie bantered back and forth. it was funny, sweet, and full of heart. having read more than one manuscript from mariah, i can tell you that all of them have this. it's kind of her brand. and i love it. you can't read one of her stories and not end up smiling. there's happy-ever-afters and moments of utter silliness and some heartfelt emotion. this manuscript introduces us to the jackson family, and their distillery. and while this was originally meant to be a series, as of now, this is the only book we're getting. but if you enjoy a best friend's younger sibling, opposites-attract, fake engagement story, then you are in for a treat. **crazy little thing called love will publish on march 24, 2020. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of t

seriously romantic: the honey-don't list by christina lauren

the honey-don't list  finds assistants to a chip and joanna gaines-like couple in the middle of a marriage that is melting down right as a media empire is set to grow and they are the only ones holding everything together. carey duncan has been melissa's right hand person from the start, in some ways, she's the whole reason melly and rusty have had the success they've found. james is new to the operation, but as he forced to spend some quality one on one time with carey, as well as melissa and rusty, he begins to see the truth too.  with a doomed bus tour as a backdrop, carey and james find support and a real partner in each other. and when everything comes to a head, the fallout from being in the blast zone of an imploding marriage will affect how they see things on the other side.  **the honey-don't list will publish on march 24, 2020. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/gallery, pocket, threshold books in exchange for my honest re

seriously romantic: the highland rogue by amy jarecki

i've enjoyed all these highlander jacobite stories from amy jarecki and the highland rogue is no exception. kennan cameron and divana campbell first meet while marooned on a small hebridean isle off the coast of scotland. once rescued, the reality of their different stations intrudes upon the close relationship that formed between them while they were alone and out of touch with the rest of the world. but what they've been through connects them beyond the class differences. but kennan also has a score to settle with a vile pirate, jackson vane. not to be left behind, divana follows her man and you can imagine what happens next... this is a story of great romance and adventure with some detailed historical details to fill in the backdrop. **the highland rogue will publish on march 24, 2020. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/grand central publishing (forever) in exchange for my honest review.

seriously romantic: hers to tame by rhenna morgan

continuing the very hot russian mobsters in new orleans a.k.a. the nola knights series, hers to tame  features avtoritet, kir vasilek, and intrepid reporter, cassie mcclintock and it's another deeply swoony, hot alpha, anti-hero type love story. this is totally my kind of romance, it's escapist fun, the men are sexy and hot and dominating but also deeply respectful. and i just love it. there's enough mystery and suspense here that i don't want to give away too much of the plot. but mostly this is about kir claiming cassie as his one true love and i am here for it. **hers to tame will publish on march 16, 2020. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/carina press in exchange for my honest review.

seriously romantic: the anti-honeymoon by bethany michaels

when you run out of your wedding and have no other place to go, the only thing you can do is go on the anti-honeymoon . jenna has some pretty big signs she's been ignoring that maybe her fiancé isn't the guy for her, but when he purposely refuses to honor the only request she made about the ceremony, she knows she needs to get out of it somehow. when she jumps into the car waiting at the curb, she assumes it's the driver her groom hired. zach ruiz has been hanging out in his car trying to figure out why elliott invited him to his wedding, and why he's bothered to show up. when the bride jumps into his car and tells him to drive he's startled into action. when he realizes she has nowhere to go, he can't stop himself from helping her. and this all leads to zach and jenna taking an anti-honeymoon. the sparks fly between these two. it's totally insta-love but they are charming together, so it's easy to forgive. they do get to know each other a bit befo

seriously romantic: matzah ball surprise by laura brown

matzah ball surprise  is a cute fake relationship story, with relatable characters and very relatable family dynamics. gaby and levi are sweet together, she needs a date to bring to her family's seder, and he has an ex-fiancée who has him avoiding his family's seder. he's also deaf. there's a lot in the story about how communication is a struggle, and some of it is related to the fact that the characters don't speak the same language, but there's also some not talking to the other person for #reasons going on too. on the whole this is a solid debut, but there are sections in the arc that could have used some improved editing. there's a dinner scene where a secondary character appears and disappears out of the scene, i literally read back a whole chapter to see if i could figure out who "charlie" was, then kept reading because i couldn't find it and figured it was a missed edit, only to have "charlie" reappear later and after thi

seriously romantic: the duke's wicked wife by elizabeth bright

sebastian, duke of wessex, chokes on a strawberry and is struck by an epiphany. he must get married. the only one of his immediate family left, he realizes it cannot all end with him. so at the outset of the duke's wicked wife , he enlists miss eliza benton's assistance in coming up with a list of ladies who might be suitable brides. sebastian plays the thoughtless popinjay, but behind the frivolity and studied devil-may-care attitude lies a person who feels things deeply and is acutely intelligent. he leans into his reputation, and accomplishes quite a bit via schemes that are at once amusing and also kind and thoughtful. eliza begins to see beyond the surface of sebastian's social varnish, and the man beneath tugs at her heartstrings in ways she does not anticipate. she has a plan. she doesn't mean to marry. to her, marriage, and carrying a child, is certain death. her mother and stepmother both died in childbirth. and she fears that for herself and the easiest wa

seriously romantic: creole kingpin by meghan march

it’s finally magnolia’s turn, in meghan march’s triumphant return to new orleans, creole kingpin ,  we learn the story behind the madam with the heart of gold. if there’s anyway one word to describe magnolia, it would be survivor. a woman who has the grit and determination to make a life for herself on her terms. making decisions that at times cost her, but ones that she believes are the only way forward. we saw this in the mount trilogy, and we see it here. but we also see the truth behind the façade she presents the world. and we find out who might be the key to unlocking all the walls she’s built, without allowing her to crumble. moses is an anti-hero much like lachlan mount and as with mount, march has a way of turning things around so we see the good inside. She’s so talented at bringing a complicated man to life. and it makes for such a satisfying read...well as satisfying as a read can be when you’re dying for the next book. always a fan of a cliffhanger, this one wil

solely mysterious: wolf in sheep's clothing by charlie adhara

wolf in sheep's clothing  is the fourth installment in charlie adhara's big, bad wolf series and continues agent cooper dayton's and agent oliver park's story. this time the grouchy human (cooper) finds himself in the middle of house-hunting with his werewolf partner (oliver) at these over the top mansions that do not speak to him at all. their hunt is put on pause when cooper's former partner asks them for a favor. she wants cooper and oliver to look into a werewolf's disappearance at a resort that specializes in couples' counseling. for reasons, mostly having to do with oliver's past as the shepherd in werewolf hierarchy, they agree to go undercover. a bunch of weird things happen, but the resort also provides a space for both cooper and oliver to have a chance to express themselves more openly than they would have otherwise and the mystery almost ends up taking a back seat to the romance, because they have these great couple conversations that i
