Part 40

Liz's head hurt. She wanted to collapse into a heap. She wanted to never have to try and blow anything up ever again.

“Liz, concentrate.” Max commanded.

Well, maybe she’d try once more, because if she had to hear Max command her to concentrate once more she’d blow his head up.

“Baby, that’s not nice,” Michael whispered as he came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist. “Max, let her take a break, even Tess never worked me this hard. We’re going to grab something to eat.”

“Fine. But—"

Michael waved off whatever else Max was going to say, and pulled Liz along with him. They had spent the day practicing in the desert near to the ruins of the pod chamber. Michael and Kyle had been working together, while Liz had been stuck with Max. The reasoning being that they believed that their emotions would interfere with their powers. Not that there had been any evidence of powers. All Liz and Kyle had managed to do was get big headaches.

“Where are we going?”

“I thought we’d have a picnic by the lake.”

“Oh, Michael, that sounds perfect. But how will we get there, where’s your bike?”

“I thought we’d try the other way.”

“What other way? Walking? Michael, I’m exhausted.”

“Nope. Close your eyes baby, concentrate on the lake, on the warm sand and the clear waters.” Michael whispered in her ear as he grabbed hold of her hand. Liz sighed and did exactly as he asked. For a second she experienced the sensation of coming apart, of diminishing to the smallest particle that formed her, before reassembling on the warm sands of the lake.

Liz opened her eyes, and sure enough, she and Michael had transported themselves to the lake. Surprisingly a blanket and a basket full of goodies from the Crashdown were waiting for them in the shade of a small tree.

“How did you arrange all this?” she asked.

“Kyle called Isabel to pick him up. I asked her to drop this off.”

“Wow. Michael, this is perfect. I love you so much.”

“Liz, before we eat there’s something I want you to try.”

“What?”

“Try blowing up that rock over there.”

“Michael, I haven’t blown anything up all morning, it’s not going to happen now,” Liz sighed at the look on Michael’s face, before putting her arm up and concentrating. A glowing light formed in the palm of her hand and shot out, pulverizing the rock. The surge of energy startling Liz, forcing her to fall back into Michael’s ready arms. “What…why do you think that worked now?” she sputtered.

“I think we were wrong about emotions,” Michael said, “Liz, you and I are a team. We have to work together. Your strengths compliment my strengths. We’re a whole, there’s no point in separating us, no point in separating Kyle and Isabel either.”

“So I can do anything as long as I am with you? That’s interesting,” Liz said as she watched Michael seat himself on the blanket Isabel had provided.

“How do you mean?” asked Michael as he pulled Liz into his lap. He handed her a plate full of the standard Crashdown fare, a hamburger and onion rings, before digging into his own.

“Well, if there was anyone Kyle and I should be connected to, shouldn't it be Max? After all, he healed us. He caused the change. Wait, you heard me?"

"What are you talking about now?" Michael asked confused.

"You heard me, when I was thinking about blowing Max's head up."

"Oh, yeah, when I touched you it was like I knew exactly what you were thinking."

"So, why do you think it happened?"

"I don't know Liz, like I said we're connected."

"Do you think maybe..." Liz paused and blushed. "Do you think it's because we had sex?"

“Having sex means you get powers? Ugh, I don't want to think about Izzie and Kyle getting it on.”

“Not just having sex, having sex with one of you. It's the pairing. Michael, my powers were never unleashed before because I never had sex until that night we made love in the break room. I’m guessing Kyle and Isabel have also consummated their relationship.”

“So the fact that your powers are tied to me is because we had sex?”

“Yeah. Maybe it’s some sort of bonding thing? Remember the whole Future Max thing?”

“That Max came from fourteen years in the future to stop you two from having sex? Yeah how could I forget?” Michael replied sarcastically.

“Well, the thing is, he used the word 'cemented' to describe what happened that night. At the time I thought it was a cute, but strange euphemism. But what if it wasn’t?”

“What are you saying? Because I hate to remind you but I had sex with Maria and I don’t think any cementing happened.”

“Because she hasn’t been changed. Not the way Kyle and I have been—maybe that’s what makes the difference. Listen, this is just speculation, but maybe the reason you were sent to Earth was to find us? What if you need us to fight?”

“Honey, I don’t know what to say. I don’t know what to think even. Fact is I trust that mind of yours, I’d say you’re probably right. I think we should check out Alex’s translation of the Destiny book again, maybe we’ll figure out what the hell is going on.”

“Before the wedding, hopefully.”

“Yeah,” Michael nodded, his eyes crossing at the mention of wedding plans, not because he wasn’t anxious for the day to arrive, but rather because the fuss that women went to was an alien concept.

“What are you thinking?” Liz asked at Michael’s suddenly faraway look.

“Wedding night,” Michael murmured as he put Liz’s plate from her hands and leaned into her until her back was against the floor. Smiling over her, he kissed her lips softly, slipping his tongue in her mouth as she gasped in surprise.

She wrapped her arms around his neck, her fingers tangling in his hair. Deepening their kiss as she pressed her body against his. Michael’s hands were everywhere, at the curve of her hips, beneath the cotton of her blouse, his work-roughened skin teasing the smoothness of hers.

They forgot where they were. They only needed each other.

Michael undid the buttons of Liz’s blouse with a sweep of his hands, using the same technique with her bra. She corresponded by eliminating the buttons of Michael’s shirt. With the same quickness they rid themselves of their pants and under things. Teasing each other with touches and kisses.

Michael grabbed a little packet from the back pocket of his pants, and without much ado thrust into Liz’s waiting body. Together they moved in a rhythm frantic and loving. Together they climaxed. Ecstasy overcoming them. They were beyond anything but love for each other, and for a while they lay cuddling on the blanket, watching the water as it rushed the shore. Their heartbeats slowing until they had recovered from their frenetic paced lovemaking and were reveling in the contentment of being together.

simply catching up on all things general hospital

hmmm, it's been months since i've blogged about gh . partly this is due to the fact that i fell behind while i was traveling. partly because all the outrage lapsed into disinterest when i realized i couldn't bring myself to care anymore and everything that was happening was just so trite and boring. some days i still feel that way. and there are still whole storylines that i either hate or just fast forward through. but there are some good things too. in no particular order, here are my thoughts on the goings-on in port charles: 1. soras [and why re-casting roles works on soaps even if you do miss the original actors]: the new, older versions of sonny's kids are turning out to be quite enjoyable. [although hilariously, cameron whom i believe is older than molly is now younger. and because cameron is so cute, i'm kind of hoping they won't fix that. we also haven't seen spencer in ages, so he may be approaching 50.] in any case, at this point we've only s
