for a while, vampires were all the rage in paranormal stories, but then they weren't. they might be making a comeback, and that's a-ok by me because i always enjoy a good vampire story. the vampires in risen aren't your normal vamps. their origin story involves three clans of vampires, with very different abilities, and different ways of treating humans.
when charlie's aunt is taken by monsters, and she's left behind with one of them, she's not sure that she'll survive. but when they touch sebastian realizes there's more to charlie than meets the eye, and he's not going to dispose of her until he figures out why she seems to be the key to unlocking the memories of his past.
on a road trip of sorts, charlie learns that there is so much more happening in the shadows than she ever realized, and she learns to fight and who not to trust. as she and sebastian get closer to unlocking the secrets that connect them, the attraction that (literally) sparks between them might prove to be something that destroys them both.
the first book in the series, i'm excited to see where their story goes.
**risen will publish on march 27, 2018. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/entangled publishing (entangled teen) in exchange for my honest review.
