seriously romantic: the firstborn prince by virginia nelson

foster boyd (the firstborn prince) and his twin brother (the rogue prince) inherited a cosmetics empire and millions of dollars. they also inherited a life in the spotlight. now foster wants to manipulate the situation to ensure he has full control over the family business and he decides that help from image consultant natalie stolen is exactly what he needs.

except the moment he meets her it's like he forgets his plan. and i'd explain the plan but to be honest, i don't think anyone in the book ever fully got it either, because it's not very clear and never really followed through on. but that's not actually a knock on the story. the plan was stupid from the get-go and foster's brother is clearly aware of what is going on anyway, which makes the whole thing even dumber. i'm sorry i need to stop talking about this plan.

the plan isn't important. because from the moment foster meets natalie it's clear that all he wants is her. and even though she knows that she shouldn't want him. she does. and he has hang-ups and commitment issues aplenty and natalie is entirely aware of them, but then they also deal with it. and it's sweet.

and oh, if you pick this book up, and you read the homemade active charcoal mask scene without laughing so hard you are crying then there is something wrong with you. that whole scene makes the book. and even more when foster references it in an apology, it's how natalie knows he means it. and as a reader you know it too.

**the firstborn prince will publish on march 12, 2018. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/entangled publishing (indulgence) in exchange for my honest review. keep reading for more information on the book...

EXCERPT

“Do you usually try to manipulate people over lunch?”

His smile was whiplash fast and charming as hell. “I don’t reserve my skills for just lunchtime.”

“Save it, Mr. Boyd,” she said.

He shook his head. “Foster.”

“Pardon me?” She put the napkin back in her lap and grabbed another forkful of the scallops. She hated to admit he was right, but he was. She wanted to eat them while they were still warm and buttery and perfect, a delicious counterpoint to the emulsion, which had a bite of sour, and the unexpected sweetness of the cauliflower.

“If he’s going to think he’s stealing you from me, he needs to think we’re at least on the road to becoming intimate. Which means you really must call me by my first name, Natalie.”

She choked on the excellent scallop and noted it didn’t taste nearly as wonderful when lodged in her windpipe.

simply catching up on all things general hospital

hmmm, it's been months since i've blogged about gh . partly this is due to the fact that i fell behind while i was traveling. partly because all the outrage lapsed into disinterest when i realized i couldn't bring myself to care anymore and everything that was happening was just so trite and boring. some days i still feel that way. and there are still whole storylines that i either hate or just fast forward through. but there are some good things too. in no particular order, here are my thoughts on the goings-on in port charles: 1. soras [and why re-casting roles works on soaps even if you do miss the original actors]: the new, older versions of sonny's kids are turning out to be quite enjoyable. [although hilariously, cameron whom i believe is older than molly is now younger. and because cameron is so cute, i'm kind of hoping they won't fix that. we also haven't seen spencer in ages, so he may be approaching 50.] in any case, at this point we've only s

We can erase all of our preconceived notions of society and law and even science, throwing all of that over the side of a cliff. Epic fantasy lets us push humanity well past the breaking point with ever
