when she is accidentally shot by an overzealous minion, laird john macgregor refuses to leave her behind. even though that might be the most convenient course of action, he's been enchanted by lady elizabet since they'd first met.

he tries to protect her and keep her from knowing his identity. and then he tries to protect her from the fallout of his choices. he's actually a criminal so even though he has valid reasons, knowing that his quest for vengeance will hurt elizabet he finds that he can't bring down her family to save himself.

but elizabet won't let him leave her behind. even if the odds are impossible, her life is better when he is in it. and that will have to be enough. and as a restoration-era romance, there is plenty to enjoy here. not just historical facts, but a forbidden romance that really has to overcome some serious obstacles.

simply catching up on all things general hospital
