Part 44

Isabel, Kyle, Liz and Michael were seated at their table when the evening’s contests began. The announcer was looking for someone to humiliate on stage. Liz, Kyle, and Isabel took one look at each other and immediately volunteered Michael for the position.

Michael, who at that point had been imagining what he could be doing with Liz just wearing his ring and his necklace, was caught by surprise when a young woman pulled him out of his chair. Even more surprising was that Liz didn’t even protest, in fact she just applauded with the rest of the crowd. It was then that Michael realized he’d been snookered. And revenge would be his in the end.

Forced to go onstage with a ridiculously flamboyant magician called The Amazing Alfredo, Michael knew it was time for him to have some fun, and maybe cause a little mayhem. He put on the silly hat and sash they made for suckers, and proceeded to assist the magic master.

When The Amazing Alfredo was about to pull the rabbit out of the empty hat, Michael let his hands glow and made the rabbit sport a multi-colored punk hair-do. The crowd laughed raucously as Liz, Isabel, and Kyle squirmed, and Amazing Al screamed and dropped the bunny.

Trying to recover, Amazing Al asked Michael to pull his handkerchief, intent on pulling the never-ending cloth scam. Except Michael pulled out only one. Amazing Al started getting twitchy, as the crowd laughed good-naturedly at the innovative magic show, and Liz, Isabel, and Kyle squirmed in their seats.

Finally, Amazing Al was going to make Michael disappear and reappear. Michael went along with it. Getting into the box he “disappeared” on the command word. Reappearing was another story. When he was commanded to do that, he used his handy ability and molecularly transported himself back to his chair, leaving behind the offensive hat and sash.

Poor Al damn near had a coronary, although the crowd was suitably amazed, offering the shell-shocked magician the first standing ovation of his life. Meanwhile, Michael was on the receiving end of three simultaneous kicks under the table.

“Ow. What was that for?”

“Michael are you insane?” hissed Isabel.

“No,” he replied reasonably, “you all need to loosen up it was a magic show. Although you should know that revenge will be mine.”

“Hey man, seeing the look on your face when you finally realized what was happening was absolutely priceless.”

“I just hope it was worthwhile Valenti.”

Kyle pretended to mull that veiled threat over before bursting into laughter once more, “Absolutely.”

“And you, you traitor. You set me up for that,” Michael whispered in Liz’s ear.

“Only because I love you so,” she whispered back.

“Don’t think you can bat your eyelashes at me and have your way. You will be paying for this Parker. Just wait for it.”

“Baby, you’ve got me shivering.”

Michael gave her a heated gaze, and turned his attention to the podium. This time around he wasn’t going to be the sucker.

“Man, how’d you do it?” Kyle asked Michael as he skipped a rock against the sharp edges of the promontory.

They’d driven out to the quarry after the Charity Ball had wound down. Deciding that they’d wanted to stay out a little longer, they’d come out to the desert to enjoy the magical quality of the evening.
Michael shrugged in response, “I swear I did absolutely nothing to the jackpot. Iz just gave me the winning ticket. And saved me from having to plan a delayed honeymoon.”

“Oh Michael, you mean we’ll do it?” Liz asked breathlessly. She was sitting on the hood of Kyle’s car with Isabel as they listened to the radio while looking up at the stars.

“Sure baby, after all it’s a free trip to the Caribbean. I’ve always wanted to see Puerto Rico.”
Liz’s smiled glowed from the inside and promised a million good things. Causing Michael to look at his wristwatch. He couldn’t wait to have Liz to himself. It seemed like it had been forever since they were last alone.

“Man, I hope that when Isabel and I get married we’re as lucky as you two,” Kyle said wistfully as he tossed another stone into the quarry.

“You think about us getting married?” asked Isabel surprised by her boyfriend’s off-handed comment.
“Of course. I mean…you’re it for me Iz. There is no one else but you. And I can’t wait for the day I put the ring on your finger and every other red-blooded male knows that you’re mine. I just know we’re not ready for that yet,” Kyle shrugged. Ever since he and Isabel had officially started dating he hadn’t thought about any other possibility, he just knew they didn’t need to go the same speed that Michael and Liz had. After all there was still high school, college, and figuring out how to support Isabel to consider. And he didn’t want to do it on an officer’s salary.

Isabel was in tears as she flung herself into Kyle’s arms. “I love you,” she whispered.

Michael and Liz looked on the tender scene with bemused smiles on their faces. “I didn’t think Valenti had it in him.”

“I’m not surprised. Things may have not worked out between us, but he was an amazing boyfriend.”
“Oh really?” Michael asked archly.

“Don’t be silly. Take me home. Those two need their privacy.”

With an off-handed wave to Kyle, Michael pulled Liz close to him and whispered, “Are you ready?”
“You really need to buy a car,” was Liz’s response as their molecules slowly dispersed into the air.

“You should stay tonight,” Liz whispered, as they stood poised to sa

y goodnight on her balcony.

“I don’t know. It was already weird this morning.”

“Come on, obviously my parents don’t mind it. Look, the guest bedroom is empty and why should you keep paying rent on your place when you already have one here with me?”

“Guest bedroom?”

“Yeah, it’s right next to mine, we’d share the bathroom. Please make it your room.”

“My room?”

“Yeah, you’re already part of the family. My parents adore you, you spend every waking moment here as it is, move in with us.”

“Oh baby, I don’t know what to say?”

“Say yes, and then have your wicked way with me right here, right now.”

“Have I ever been able to resist you?” Michael asked as he captured Liz’s lips with his own.

simply catching up on all things general hospital

hmmm, it's been months since i've blogged about gh . partly this is due to the fact that i fell behind while i was traveling. partly because all the outrage lapsed into disinterest when i realized i couldn't bring myself to care anymore and everything that was happening was just so trite and boring. some days i still feel that way. and there are still whole storylines that i either hate or just fast forward through. but there are some good things too. in no particular order, here are my thoughts on the goings-on in port charles: 1. soras [and why re-casting roles works on soaps even if you do miss the original actors]: the new, older versions of sonny's kids are turning out to be quite enjoyable. [although hilariously, cameron whom i believe is older than molly is now younger. and because cameron is so cute, i'm kind of hoping they won't fix that. we also haven't seen spencer in ages, so he may be approaching 50.] in any case, at this point we've only s

genre debate: urban fantasy versus epic fantasy: team epic gets their say

Team Epic: Why I Love Epic Fantasy! Since it's my blog, I'll go first: Epic fantasies take you on quests that take you beyond the limits of what is real. The rules can be different, they are different, and everything just matters more. It's not just one life at stake, it's lives, it's a whole world, a whole way of being. Epic fantasies force you to use your imagination and take you on an adventure to places you never thought possible, but as different as everything feels, there are still things that are always real, no matter how you write it. Keep reading to see what a handful of Entangled TEEN authors think about epic fantasies: Erica Cameron - Island of Exiles (The Ryogan Chronicles, #1): Why do I love epic fantasy? It's a blank slate. We can erase all of our preconceived notions of society and law and even science, throwing all of that over the side of a cliff. Epic fantasy lets us push humanity well past the breaking point with ever
