fatal evidence picks up the story of scott holland and heather silva, who we met in running target. for years scott and heather pretended to be in a fake relationship in order to allow scott's cousin, jack, and heather's best friend, callie, opportunities to see each other. in that time they only gave into their attraction once, and a year later neither of them has moved on from it.
when the chance to purchase a bundle of land brings them together, they are both reluctant to follow through on it. but they both have a lot riding on the land development, and combining their ideas would likely benefit them both. except there is that pesky attraction.
as accidents and delays beleaguer their project, heather and scott come to realize that it's impossible to ignore chemistry like theirs. there is no other way to face the danger they're in other than by staying together. because as much as they want the other person to be safe, they also can't imagine being separated. for scott this means getting over his hang-ups regarding heather's wealth. and heather has to get over the fact that being independent doesn't mean you have to shun human companionship.
i really enjoyed scott and heather's story. this series is the perfect blend of suspense and dread and sweet emotion. i'm hoping we'll get more since drew and nick and others look like they can use their own stories.
**fatal evidence will publish on december 5, 2017. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/kensington books (lyrical undergrouns) in exchange for my honest review.
