in help wanted you actually get two romances for the price of one. the only thing is, that you don't actually realize this until you've hit the middle of the book. and i'm not sure that's a good thing. zane and kenley start out as our original leads. and midway through the book it feels like the author decided there wasn't enough story to stretch her word count target, so the love story of michaela and brady is added in.
but this leaves both romances feeling somewhat undercooked. and it's hard to get past some of the character's actions when you don't have enough time to fully explain or provide context for why they've done what they've done.
in the end, i was kind of lukewarm about all these characters. so it's hard to say that i would have liked this story better if each set of leads had gotten a full novel of their own. there were things i liked, but more i didn't in this one.
**help wanted will publish on september 12, 2017. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/kensington books (lyrical shine) in exchange for my honest review.
