echoes is like lost meets the bourne identity for teens. i should look up the deal notice on publisher's marketplace* and see if that's what it was pitched as. i don't want to give too much away of the plot, because it's trippy and confusing and also this two-person-play/love story between fiona and miles as they try to figure out what's happening and where they are.
like lost there are two separate timelines and both tell a compelling story and you wonder if and when they will ever intersect. and if you do finally figure out what's going on, do you know or is there going to be some new twist. it's well-established that i love lost, so this story was right up my alley. but if you don't like mind-bending, twisty stories you might want to skip this one, because echoes is all about the twists.
*it was pitched as lost meets the maze runner. i don't know the maze runner to know what that means, which is why i went with the bourne identity and i say that it still works.
**echoes will publish on august 7, 2018. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/entangled publishing (entangled teen) in exchange for my honest review.
