seriously romantic: a cowboy like you by donna grant

the latest in the heart of texas series, is a sweet second-chance-at-love romance for the local sheriff, danny oldman. normally, second chance stories are not my faves, but here danny and skylar never actually had a relationship go bad. it was more a they liked each other but neither ever made a move. in a cowboy like you  once danny realizes who's life he is saving in an isolated rest stop, it's like there's no holding back all the feelings. both skylar and danny try because the timing is terrible and skylar's insane, abusive ex is making their lives difficult. but when you know, you know. and both skylar and danny have wasted too much time on terrible relationships and being alone to know what it is they really want. and it's each other. all the familiar faces make an appearance here, as the east and harpers take care of their own. and at this point danny is one of the family. you can see how this series will continue, as the cast of alpha males with heart o...

seriously romantic: weekend fling by stacey lynn

trey collins didn't become a tech billionaire by sitting around and letting things happen to him. he's the kind of guy who goes after what he wants. and he wants willow park, the harried barista at the coffee shop in his building. willow has bigger fish to fry than the hot guy who keeps asking her out. her mom is suffering from long-term depression and since she's moved in with her after being cheated on and dumped by her jerk of an ex-boyfriend, they are barely making ends meet. but when trey proposes a weekend away, willow is finally tempted to take some time for herself and just enjoy a good time with a good-looking guy. (and while trey may seem like he comes on strong, he's actually clear on consent and respectful boundaries. the story makes this clear even if the description doesn't necessarily.) these two have crazy amounts of chemistry, but willow has some big, heavy stuff going on in her life. and she has a hard time accepting help (especially from a...

seriously romantic: blindsided by amy daws

mac and freya believe they have the best friendship in the whole world. the one that will prove that harry of "when harry met sally" was dead wrong when he said men and women can't be friends. but as  blindsided  unfolds, it's pretty clear that they're just going to prove him right. deeply hilarious, there were multiple moments of me laughing out loud, there are also some weighty scenes that nearly had me in tears. these characters are so hopelessly broken in so many ways, it's how fixed they are together that makes them absolutely perfect. the harrises all make appearances, and we get some updates on their ability to reproduce. but it's like catching up with old friends, and they are as always delightful. but freya and mac sparkle. the chemistry between these two, the feels. the depth of the friendship and the lines they cross means that it's going to be super, duper messy. it's as bad as when harry and sally break up, maybe even wo...

seriously romantic: win big by kelly jamieson

i just adore these wynn hockey books, and i'm so excited we're finally getting everly's story. in win big , théo and j.p.'s aunt meets her match in wyatt bell. he's obnoxious and carefree in ways that rub up against her buttoned-up controlling persona. but the thing about wyatt is that he clearly has hidden depths. he's not the playboy she assumes he is. and when he makes a commitment he genuinely tries his best to honor it. he cares about his hockey career and his team. but he also has responsibilities to others that mean more to him than his happiness. and this strikes a chord in everly. because her tightly held control is all about making sure she does nothing to embarass or upset her family, her parents in particular. she did that once and it was horrible. and she never wants to do that again. the idea of disappointing her family gives her panic attacks. but as everly and wyatt get closer, it's pretty clear that they could both use some of the ot...

strictly literary: find me their bones by sara wolf

picking up where bring me their hearts  leaves off, find me their bones  doesn't spend much time rehashing the first book in the series. this is both good and bad. good if you are binge-reading. bad if you haven't picked up the first book since its original release, it's bad because remembering everything that happened in the book before is not the easiest. this installment is more about sera coming into herself than the romance, no matter what the blurb says. it's definitely the middle book in a series too, and while there is a whole story here, it's also still clearly the middle of the story. this world and adventure is rich and engrossing and sera is a heroine to root for. **find me their bones will publish on november 5, 2019. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/entangled publishing (entangled teen) in exchange for my honest review.

surely supernatural: graveyard shift by jenn burke

graveyard shift , book 3 in the not dead yet series, finds wes and hudson tackling new mysteries and old foes. the crew is as enjoyable as ever and the mystery keeps you riveted as do the relationships between all the characters. the supernatural world growing bigger and broader than in the previous novels. the story stands alone, but you lose something if you don't read the first two in the series. these characters have a history and their arc over the course of the series has been deeply satisfying to read. **graveyard shift will publish on november 4, 2019. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/carina press in exchange for an honest review.
