seriously romantic: seven days of you by cecilia vinesse

i think because i've been in the same position that the main characters of seven days of you  are in, where you are moving across continents and countries and cultures leaving your friends and things you have come to love behind, it was easy to love this book. i really understood sophia. the parts of your identity that are wrapped up in where you live and where you come from form the foundation of how you self-identify. sophia has lived in japan most of her life. she's got an american mother and a french father and has spent time in those countries too. but japan is what she knows, even though she is not ethnically japanese. when i was in college i took this nineteenth-century european history class where we had one unit focused on the idea of nationalism and what establishes a nation's identity. is it language? is it geographic? is it cultural? and the reality is that it's complicated. it's a mix of all three. for sophia, throughout th...

seriously romantic: hard stick by l.p. dover

i'm such a sucker for a sports romance, but hard stick  is more than that. it's got a surprising suspense/thriller element to it given the lead character's circumstances. kristin robinson has to escape a bad ex-boyfriend. she knows she's in a bad situation but there's no way to escape. the only way is to fake her death and take on a new identity.  when she meets kellan carter she thinks he's just another playboy athlete. but the more she gets to know him, the more she realizes that first impressions aren't always accurate. but trusting someone new is hard. and even though she hopes her past is dead and buried, she can't stop looking over her shoulder.  the thing is her past and kellan's present aren't all that far from each other. given his position as a public figure and who his family is, there's simply no way to plan for the kind of danger she is in. but the relationship that they have built, the strong bonds and connect...

simply another tease - talk british to me

Talk British to Me , an all-new sexy standalone romance from Robin Bielman will publish on June 19th ! As the Dating Guy on L.A.’s top morning show, I give the single guy’s perspective on dating, love, and sex—and I give great advice. Everyone’s hooking up…well, except for me. Sure, I can get any woman I want, but I’ve got a “no relationship” clause in my contract and the only woman I want has “relationship” written all over her. Probably stamped on her ass, too. And wouldn’t I like to confirm that. Unfortunately, she wants nothing to do with me. At all. Something about the next Ice Age might have even come up in her rebuttal. Adorable. Because she’s determined to ignore what one simple kiss proved: she wants me as badly as I want her. Everything in me is screaming to go after her, but I’ve got a secret that I’m fairly certain will end up with her roasting my nuts over an open fire. So, job on the line? Check. Nuts on the line? Check. Can’t get her out of my head? Nail…mee...

seriously romantic: kiss me, kill you by larissa c. hardesty

in larissa c. hardesty's debut paranormal ya, kiss me, kill you , the supernatural beings at the heart of the story are succubi and incubi. not your usual paranormal heroes. at least, not the paranormal stuff i've read. anyway, a romance with a succubus is going to be a tragedy, right? poor emmy has no idea why people are starting to look at her funny. or why guys seem to give in to her every demand, well almost all guys. paul andinn, however, seems to have no problem saying no. and he's the only guy she is actually interested in. of course her mom and her best friend, lily, keep telling her there's no reason to settle for just one guy. and there is no such thing as love. but she's read enough books to know that no one would spend as much time writing about love if it wasn't something real. when she asks paul out and he declines she is so mortified that when the school playboy asks her out on a date she says yes. and suddenly, even though everyone in her ...

seriously romantic: the story of us by tara sivec

there was more than war keeping shelby eubanks and eli james apart in the story of us , even though the 5 years he was forced to spend in captivity should have been enough. there's also crazy amounts of emotional blackmail. and physical and emotional scars up the wazoo. honestly shelby and eli are put through a wringer, and then when you think they've already dealt with everything you realize that no, there is more. and here's the thing, i don't want to give away too much about what shelby and eli have to deal with, because there are some surprises worth having in this story. it's emotional and heavy at times, but the romance is sweet and sexy. both shelby and eli suffer forms of post-traumatic stress, for different reasons. but the thing that makes both these characters worth rooting for is their strength in the face of adversity. they both have to overcome some serious ghosts and fears in order to get their happily ever after. it's not an easy road for t...

the rancher and the city girl  is the first book in joya ryan's tempting the rancher series. tripp montgomery is the aforementioned rancher and charlotte grams is the city girl who blazes into town and shakes his world up. tripp has been busy, running his ranch, raising his daughter, avoiding difficult emotional connections. it's pretty easy to keep a distance from things when there isn't a lot of new coming into cheyenne, wyoming. there's nothing to shake him out of his routine. but when he comes across charlie, cursing up a storm at her rental car, he's compelled to help her and intrigued enough to risk one night of something more. it's when he realizes that she's around for a while and that she will be his neighbor that he panics. he doesn't bring women around his daughter willy-nilly. they've already been abandoned by her birth mom. why would he risk her heart as well as his? these are some pretty big walls that charlotte has to scale. and ...

seriously romantic: level me up by lauren helms

lauren helm's debut, level me up , has got a lot of things to like. the characters are great, i loved dex and his gaming buddies, as well as morgan, gia and ruby. the group scenes were some of the best parts of the book, even though i also really enjoyed morgan and dex together. the problems is that these characters spend so much time in their heads analyzing and describing everything. it's excruciating at times. morgan gives us her entire detailed dating history and philosophy in one of the early chapters, and while this helps us understand her hang ups, this info dump wasn't the best way of getting this information to us. this isn't a terribly long book, but because there was so much detailed thinking and so little action at times it felt interminable. i would have probably cut about 25% of the inner thoughts and comic con descriptions and added in more sex. i mean, it was fine, i don't mind when we stay entirely out of the bedroom. i just think that a littl...
